Stump Grinding · Greater Lansing, MI
Stump grinding across Greater Lansing
Removing a tree usually leaves the stump behind. We grind it down below grade so you get your lawn, bed, or patio footprint back — with the chips cleaned up and the area ready for whatever comes next.

Pricing factors
Every job is different — here's what actually drives the number:
- Stump diameter measured at the widest point
- How many stumps are being ground on the same visit
- Access — a walk-out backyard versus a tight gated side yard
- Depth of grinding required for the follow-up work
- Whether you want the chips hauled off or left as mulch

Frequently asked
How deep do you grind stumps?+
Standard grind is 6–12 inches below grade — enough for lawn, planting bed, or most landscape uses. Deeper grinding for patios, footings, or foundations is quoted per job.
Do you haul off the chips?+
Either way. Most homeowners have us leave the chips as mulch or backfill the hole; we can also haul them off for an added fee.
Can you reseed the spot after?+
Yes. We can backfill with topsoil and reseed as part of the job so the lawn recovers.
Do you grind the roots too?+
We grind visible surface roots that run from the stump when requested. Full root chasing is possible but priced separately.
